Much like the recent storm tore through the northern region the prior day, Manchester City overwhelmed the visitors away at the their home ground. It was a convincing three-nil win for their manager's side due to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their title credentials as they reinforced their place at the league summit.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled successive league setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since last May, placing them a sizable gap off the top team with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

The Red Devils' ability to manage domestic and continental football with a limited squad has been a frequently analyzed issue since they qualified for the European competition. Considering the schedule, it always appeared this was the week that would fully examine this ability. Unfortunately for the opposition, they seemed weary from start to finish, the historic win against PSG clearly having taken a toll.
